Patty Lang Pfennig Bio

Children’s book author, Patty Lang Pfennig (the P is silent) is thrilled to introduce her new series, Terns and Pfriends, republishing Terns Taking Turns and introducing The Return of the Terns through SquareMastery. The books highlight the adventures of four shore birds called terns, and through their adventures, elementary school-aged children are taught the semantics of homophones, and then antonyms and synonyms.

Patty enjoys the hobby of Birding, and she brings the topic to life in her books through area range maps for each bird, as well as actual photographs. Younger readers/listeners will enjoy the beautiful graphics as well as the playfulness of the characters; and older students will be challenged to find homophones, antonyms, and synonyms in each story and in everyday life. Patty‘s goal is to introduce fun stories to help children better understand the English language and become eloquent creative writers.

Social and character issues are also sensitively addressed, such as anti-bullying, sharing, caring, forgiving, friendship, and kindness. The unspoken “golden rules” are highlighted in each book, which are dear to Patty’s heart.

Patty has lived in many major cities throughout the U.S. and has enjoyed traveling, as well as being active in sports, photography, gardening, church activities, and Birding, while always focusing on her Pfamily and Pfriends.

Patty started her Birding hobby during her late husband‘s lengthy illness, taking quiet long walks whenever possible and finding a new appreciation for nature and the world right outside her front door. This hobby enhanced her interest in photography, as well. She has been a “Birder” for 10 years and enjoys looking for different birds on all of her travels inside and outside of our country.

The mother of two loving adult daughters, mother-in-love to two dear adult men, and “MiMi” to three active grand-kiddos, Patty enjoys learning from the younger generations, as well as imparting her acquired knowledge onto them whenever requested.

Why Choose Us

Our Vision

At the heart of this book series is a simple dream: to inspire children to learn, imagine, and explore through storytelling.

We believe books can do more than entertain—they can open doors to new ideas, spark curiosity about the natural world, and create meaningful learning experiences. Our vision is to:

  • Bring stories into classrooms nationwide by making our two-book series a valuable part of elementary school curriculum.

  • Encourage a love of nature and discovery through engaging characters and adventures that children can connect with.

  • Grow alongside our readers, expanding into creative products like plush companions of the four Terns, so kids can carry the stories and characters with them beyond the page.

About The Author

Hi, I’m Patty Pfennig, and I’m passionate about sharing stories that inspire children to learn and dream.

My book series introduces kids to the wonderful world of birds, nature, and discovery. With relatable characters and fun adventures, these stories are perfect for both bedtime reading and classroom use.

This journey started with my first children’s book, and now I’m thrilled to be releasing my second book with SquareMastery. My dream is to bring these books into elementary school curricula across the country—and eventually create lovable stuffed animals based on my characters to make the stories come alive.
